Brest
Brest is a city in north-western France, in the region of Brittany on the Atlantic Ocean. It is home to around 141 thousand people. It is France's largest naval port and an important industrial centre. You will find machinery, shipbuilding and chemical industries here. The city has a rich history reaching back to Roman times. The 12th-century castle and the 18th-century fortifications are well worth a visit. Brest is also a significant centre of education, with prestigious maritime and oceanographic institutions.
