Calgary
Calgary is the largest city in the Canadian province of Alberta, located at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Founded in 1875 as Fort Calgary, it grew rapidly thanks to the Canadian Pacific Railway and the discovery of oil. Today it is a hub of the oil and gas industry as well as a cultural and scientific centre. It is known for the Stampede rodeo and the Plus 15 skywalk system. The climate brings freezing winters and warm summers, and the Chinook wind can raise temperatures within hours.
