Nepal, a federal democratic republic in South Asia, lies in the heart of the Himalayas between China and India. This landlocked country is defined by majestic peaks, including Mount Everest, the highest in the world. A mountain climate prevails in the north, while the south has a tropical monsoon climate. The capital is Kathmandu, and other important cities include Patan and Pokhara. Nepal is home to more than 28 million people. The best time to go is between October and December, when the weather is at its most favourable.
