IJsland
Iceland, a Nordic country in the north of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, is a land of geysers, volcanoes and glaciers. The capital is Reykjavik, home to 36% of its 388,790 inhabitants. The official language is Icelandic. The country's culture and politics are tied to Europe. Thanks to the Gulf Stream, the south of the island has a temperate climate despite lying close to the Arctic Circle. Summers are cool and winters mild. The best time to visit is summer, when you can admire extraordinary landscapes and geothermal phenomena.
